Managed Computing Business - IT West Barnes Solutions ...

computing IT West BarnesYou?ll find quite a few reasons why a corporation ought to seriously contemplate hiring managed IT West Barnes?services to assist move their small business forward. Without a maximized workflow and optimally functioning technologies, a enterprise could lose important facts via troubles that could possibly arise. No matter what size company you?re coping with, ensure you consider receiving a service that could assist you using the heavy lifting. Unless you are going to start an in-house IT department, you?ll need to take into consideration enhancing your business enterprise with an outsourced tech team. There are actually three important causes why selecting an outside IT enterprise is a good solution.

Threat Management ? Any time you hire a tech enterprise to deal with personal computer help services, you could feel confident in your office technologies and focus on enterprise operations. As opposed to hiring an in-house team that would take up space and resources in your location of company, you might instead cut down the dangers involved with hiring, insurance and much extra by basically receiving an IT service that?s separate from your business enterprise location.

Infrastructure Control ? If you?re coping with laptop or computer networking, technology, sites and a lot much more, you will must have total control over updating and main processes that make them operate. This can be in particular true if you?re running a shopping cart software program on your web page. With out control, you won?t be moving forward with infrastructure. As an example, if the network goes down at any offered moment, you?ll wind up getting peace of mind simply because it is possible to get your web-site back in operating order instantly, as opposed to getting to wait for the tech team to arrive at the workplace.

Much less Operate, Additional Efficiency ? The main reason why you might need a service of this type is simply because it will mean less work within the long-term. Your tasks won?t be related to technologies, and rather your business enterprise can move forward with relative ease. In-house staff frequently times have far more function to do than just focus on the managing of technological advances, which can from time to time bottleneck certain aspects of infrastructure. By removing that element, and receiving a service, you may make certain that business enterprise is moving forward at all hours from the day and also night if will need be.
The aforementioned causes are just a few examples to think about when deciding whether or not or not to employ an IT firm for laptop or computer help services. Services are varied and there are a whole lot extra arguments both for and against hiring outsourced IT providers. The above are just a handful of reasons that ought to help keep you motivated in hiring a team which is already operating in technology, instead of wanting to construct a ?dream team? for your self. You could devote month after month attempting to figure out who to pick out to come on board and aid along with your tech demands, or it is possible to let the professionals deal with your demands with relative ease. By hiring an outside firm, you may also be saving a tremendous level of capital that would otherwise be spent on an in-house IT West Barnes?department. The long-term savings will trump the costs which you would must invest in acquiring and forming a suitable team to manage all tech help. Outside firms have encounter and staff to deal with any and all wants that arise, so your small business is covered.

White Bird Dance review: Garth Fagan's 'Griot New York' shows ...

In many traditional societies of West Africa, a griot is the voice of the culture, a storyteller, historian and commentator. As described in program notes to ?Griot New York,? the 1991 collaboration between the choreographer Garth Fagan, the jazz composer Wynton Marsalis and the sculptor Martin Puryear, it refers to someone who preserves and transmits people?s history and traditions in song, dance and verse.

?Griot New York,? which the strikingly talented ensemble of Garth Fagan Dance performed at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall on Wednesday night, is Fagan?s contemporary take on that ancient function, a series of heartfelt, at once earthy and poetic dances that carry a sense of African and African-American identity amid what the presenting company White Bird describes as a ?tribute to the look and sound of the pulsating city.?

What specific stories or commentaries Fagan might intend isn?t always clear -- perhaps that?s for the best. ?The Disenfranchised,? which opened the second half of the program, came closest to social commentary, with dancers stumbling around languidly in tattered clothing, looking a bit like a very attractive zombie underclass.

Rather, the riches of ?Griot New York? are in the execution more than the concept. As the esteemed dance critic Martha Ullman West remarked during intermission Wednesday, what was most notable in Fagan?s choreography and the performance of his troupe was the remarkable musicality of the dancing.

Perhaps, though, this is as much part of Fagan?s concept as any narrative or metaphorical trappings. As he once put it in a segment for the public television series ?Dance in America,? his dancers ?dance from the inside out...I want to see the soul behind the movement.?

Which could be one way of describing what it means for dance to have musicality.

We might also look to notions of fluency and fluidity, to the subtleties of articulation and embellishment. Both music and dance concern time and motion, and work best when the those two phenomena seem married, indivisible.

In any case, you could see musicality -- and understand intuitively that there?s nothing paradoxical about the phrase -- in the dizzyingly quick turns the dancers made as the whipped across the stage in the playful opener ?City Court Dance.? Or, from that same piece, in the joyful hop, executed with one leg kicking high in the air, that looked like a modernist borrowing from the Lindy Hop. Or in the exquisite tonal control (a function of strength, balance and a keen sense of expressive understatement) shown by Norwood Pennewell and Nicolette Depass in the slow, tender duet ?Spring Yaounde.?? Or the sinuous, casually sexy, hip-rotating walk that gave a distinctly Caribbean feel to ?Oracabessa Sea.?

Perhaps the secret skill of the griot lies less in what you say than how you say it.

Jamaica Broilers and Wisynco to invest in new finance house ...

(Jamaica Observer) Two of Jamaica?s high-profile family-run companies announced Thursday that they would be backing a small new financial firm that is just being set up in New Kingston, called BCW Capital.

Neither poultry producer Jamaica Broilers Group nor beverage company Wisynco Group has said how much capital they have put into the company, which is principally owned and operated by Gerry Wight, who formerly worked with National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited.

BCW Capital is held by BCW Holdings Limited. The latter was incorporated on December 8, 2011 with Wight as sole shareholder of 400 ordinary shares. Wight, Juliet Wight and Gerald Chambers are listed as directors on Companies Office of Jamaica records.

Consultant and former banker Aubyn Hill is BCW Holdings? chairman. Hill, who at one point was group managing director of NCB, currently runs his own microfinancing firm, Nation Growth. He also sits on the board of Jamaica Broilers.

Wisynco managing director William Mahfood said his company and Broilers have acquired equity stakes in BCW Holdings.

Gerry Wight, BCW?s managing director of operations, told the Financial Gleaner that his company is seeking to raise up to half-billion dollars through private placements with investors, like the deal struck with Broilers and Wisynco, and possibly the junior stock market.

?After the public and private round of raising capital, we expect to have $500 million. The private round is basically completed and so we will go to the public,? Wight said. ?Listing on that market is an option.?

The investment house is in the process of setting up its offices on Knutsford Boulevard in New Kingston.

BCW plans to open for business in the second quarter of 2012, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.

Wight said the office is located beside Bijoux Jewellers at a building formerly utilised by Capital & Credit. He refrained from disclosing the licences being sought and the specific services that BCW would provide.

?At this point, we are meeting with persons in the marketplace and listening to the business community and we will tailor products to meet their financial needs,? he said.

? There are a lot of great companies out there but we want to build-out products that cater to the specific needs of businesses, individuals and families.?

Wight currently sits on the investment and audit committees at Advantage General Insurance Company and has held such senior positions as director of corporate banking and small business at CIBC FirstCaribbean Jamaica, and senior assistant general manager of corporate banking at NCB.

Advantage General, which like NCB is owned by Michael Lee-Chin, also announced this month that it would list on the Jamaican stock market.

During his banking career, Wight reportedly closed several large multi-jurisdictional corporate banking deals in the Caribbean. He later worked with private security firm Guardsman Limited.

Wight will run the operations with partner Charles Chambers, BCW?s managing director of investment banking.

Chambers has held senior positions at Jamaica Money Market Brokers and NCB Capital Markets and most recently been managing director of Royal Fidelity Barbados.

President and CEO of Jamaica Broilers, Christopher Levy, said in the press release announcing the investments in the new company: ?BCW Capital will draw upon the core values, heritage, integrity, trust and stability of our two companies, with a clear mission to be the most customer-centric financial services company in the Caribbean?.

Said Mahfood: ?We are upbeat about Jamaica?s prospects and are confident that this investment in BCW Capital will assist families and companies in building wealth and achieving their financial goals?.

Representatives from both Jamaica Broilers and Wisynco will sit on BCW Holdings board of directors.

Locate the best Spirits from Online Wine Sales in Australia

Online wine sales in Australia usually have treasures hidden in their bottles of spirits. Australia is the fourth largest wine exporter in the world, and their market is worth $5.5 billion. Their wineries may well be young compared to major vineyards in other regions of the world, but they have produced world-renowned quality wine.

People who buy wine online in Australia cannot test each variety as individuals who buy from the marketplace or from the vineyards directly. Each buyer has to take special care when deciding on the proper vintage for a unique variety. Remember these things when choosing spirits online for the greatest products the Australian wine region can give.

Know your spirits. Never make lucky guesses when scouting for a bottle of bubbly. Some varieties need time to age inside the bottle before you can experience its full flavour. Other varieties, like the Beaujolais nouveau, are perfect for consumption just a few months after bottling. Know your varieties and be acquainted with their characteristics. Cross-reference this together with the descriptions within the online catalogue. Think about purchasing a bottle if something is amiss.

Some websites have an FAQ section where you will find information on spirits as well as their characteristics. This can be ideal for those with no working knowledge on wine. Find and consult any local sommelier if you wish to know the best bottles of sparkly you should get.

Learn your vintage. The vintage is the year when winemakers harvested grapes and bottled the liquor. You?ll find a product?s vintage printed on the label, either below or above the brand name. Some years produce better grapes than others, and that influences the taste of the final product. Knowing which years produced more high-quality grapes will give you a solid idea of which vintage is much better. You should research about weather and harvest conditions thoroughly before purchasing a bottle of sparkly.

Do a price comparison. Pricing is very competitive if you buy wine online in Australia. Winemakers sell their premium items at economical prices so that you can have a taste of Australia?s finest liquor without putting a huge dent on your own budget. Browse different web stores and do a price comparison for every single item. Be sure to take a look at auctions and various other online wine sales in Australia as well. Australia has an excess amount of spirits, and wineries often mark down their prices further to get more patrons.

Buy only from licensed dealers. Some online merchants pass off regular table varieties as high-quality bottles. You could end up paying considerably more compared to what a merchandise is truly worth. You?ll want to visit each vineyard?s official website before looking for third-party retailers. Most Australian winery websites have the option of purchasing items straight from their online catalogue. This ensures you will get authentic Aussie spirits and absolutely nothing less.

Have a look at different online wine sales in Australia to find some of the country?s best offerings. You will get the very best products from any of the wine regions in the continent for excellent prices.

Ellis Weaver is a sommelier who likes to buy wine online Australia from online wine sales Australia.

Scruble Cube Puzzle Game Review ? Here and There ? A New ...

Scruble Cube

The top-selling Rubik Magic Cube puzzle game arrived on the scene in 1974. Consider it the best puzzle of its time, but, watch out Rubik?s, there is a new cube on the block. Its name is SCRUBLE Cube.

The standard SCRUBLE cube measures approximately three inches on each side. It consists of 96 miniature cubes on a concealed internal interlocking pivot mechanism that allows the cubes to rotate independently. Each cube face has either a scoring peg or letter (proportionate to English frequency). With 3-D 1.4 X 10 45 or 7,401 septillion possible configurations, possibilities are almost endless.

Scruble Cube

SCRUBLE is a brainteaser. SCRUBLE is a vocabulary builder. SCRUBLE is an amusing, fun educational tool that helps build logical deduction, analytical processing, and word development. Play it alone or compete with 2-4 players. Spell using one, two, three or four faces.

Test your skill and decide for yourself if it is indeed the World?s Greatest 3-D Word Game. But, please, please, don?t cheat by taking off the stick on letters and replacing them on the visible side. Like the song says, ?now let?s twist,? you gotta twist. FYI: Every cube is made so its top face letter turns 360 degrees so you don?t have to look at things upside down or at an angle.

Want more challenge? There is a single solution which returns SCRUBLE to its original configuration and spells SCRUBLE CUBE in two directions (original configuration in directions).

Best played by those 8 and up, the SCRUBLE Cube comes with instructions, score pad and timer. When company arrived this weekend, I decided to check out game play. Most interesting with a caveat: Have a dictionary on hand. Some people can?t spell; others use tricky words.

SCRUBE CUBE has a $24.99 SMRP. You can find it online as well as in stores like Barnes and Noble, the Learning Express, and FAO Schwartz.
It is lightweight, portable, and an ideal traveling companion since no electric or battery is required only the energy of the mind. I like the game.

Scruble Cube is also on Facebook.

Noninvasive method accurately and efficiently detects risk of Down syndrome, researchers say

ScienceDaily (Feb. 21, 2012) ? Using a noninvasive test on maternal blood that deploys a novel biochemical assay and a new algorithm for analysis, scientists can detect, with a high degree of accuracy, the risk that a fetus has the chromosomal abnormalities that cause Down syndrome and a genetic disorder known as Edwards syndrome. The new approach is more scalable than other recently developed genetic screening tests and has the potential to reduce unnecessary amniocentesis or CVS.

Two studies evaluating this approach are available online in advance of publication in the April issue of the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology (AJOG).

Diagnosis of fetal chromosomal abnormalities, or aneuploidies, relies on invasive testing by chorionic villous sampling or amniocentesis in pregnancies identified as high-risk. Although accurate, the tests are expensive and carry a risk of miscarriage. A technique known as massively parallel shotgun sequencing (MPSS) that analyzes cell-free DNA (cfDNA) from the mother's plasma for fetal conditions has been used to detect trisomy 21 (T21) pregnancies, those with an extra copy of chromosome 21 that leads to Down syndrome, and trisomy 18 (T18), the chromosomal defect underlying Edwards syndrome. MPSS accurately identifies the conditions by analyzing the entire genome, but it requires a large amount of DNA sequencing, limiting its clinical usefulness.

Scientists at Aria Diagnostics in San Jose, CA developed a novel assay, Digital Analysis of Selected Regions (DANSR?), which sequences loci from only the chromosomes under investigation. The assay requires 10 times less DNA sequencing than MPSS approaches.

In the current study, the researchers report on a novel statistical algorithm, the Fetal-fraction Optimized Risk of Trisomy Evaluation (FORTE?), which considers age-related risks and the percentage of fetal DNA in the sample to provide an individualized risk score for trisomy. Explains author Ken Song, MD, "The higher the fraction of fetal cfDNA, the greater the difference in the number of cfDNA fragments originating from trisomic versus disomic [normal] chromosomes and hence the easier it is to detect trisomy. The FORTE algorithm explicitly accounts for fetal fraction in calculating trisomy risk."

To test the performance of the DANSR/FORTE assay, Dr. Song and his colleagues evaluated a set of subjects consisting of 123 normal, 36 T21, and 8 T18 pregnancies. All samples were assigned FORTE odd scores for chromosome 18 and chromosome 21. The combination of DANSR and FORTE correctly identified all 36 cases of T21 and 8 cases of T18 as having a greater than 99% risk for each trisomy in a blinded analysis. There was at least a 1,000 fold magnitude separation in the risk score between trisomic and disomic samples.

In a related study, researchers from the Harris Birthright Research Centre for Fetal Medicine, Kings College Hospital, University of London and the University College London Hospital, University College London, provided 400 maternal plasma samples to Aria for analysis using the DANSR assay with the FORTE algorithm. The subjects were all at risk for aneuploidies, and they had been tested by chorionic villous sampling. The analysis distinguished all cases of T21 and 98% of T18 cases from euploid pregnancies. In all cases of T21, the estimated risk for this aneuploidy was greater than or equal to 99%, whereas in all normal pregnancies and those with T18, the risk score for T21 was less than or equal to 0.01%.

"Combining the DANSR assay with the FORTE algorithm provides a robust and accurate assessment of fetal trisomy risk," says Dr. Song. "Because DANSR allows analysis of specific genomic regions, it could be potentially used to evaluate genetic conditions other than trisomy. The incorporation of additional risk information, such as from ultrasonography, into the FORTE algorithm warrants investigation."

Kypros H. Nicolaides, MD, senior author of the University of London study, suggests that fetal trisomy evaluation with cfDNA testing will inevitably be introduced into clinical practice. "It would be useful as a secondary test contingent upon the results of a more universally applicable primary method of screening. The extent to which it could be applied as a universal screening tool depends on whether the cost becomes comparable to that of current methods of sonographic and biochemical testing."

Dr. Nicolaides also notes that the plasma samples were obtained from high-risk pregnancies where there is some evidence of impaired placental function. It would also be necessary to demonstrate that the observed accuracy with cfDNA testing obtained from the investigation of pregnancies at high-risk for aneuploidies is applicable to the general population where the prevalence of fetal trisomy 21 is much lower. "This may well prove to be the case because the ability to detect aneuploidy with cfDNA is dependent upon assay precision and fetal DNA percentage in the sample rather than the prevalence of the disease in the study population," he concludes.

Greece to get $170B bailout, reduce debt

Greek Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos, left, shakes hands with German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble during a round table meeting of eurozone finance ministers at the EU Council building in Brussels on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012. Eurozone governments will likely approve on Monday a long-elusive rescue package for Greece, saving it from a potentially calamitous bankruptcy next month, senior officials said. (AP) ? After more than 12 hours of talks, the countries that use the euro reached an agreement early Tuesday to hand Greece euro130 billion ($170 billion) in additional bailout loans to save it from a potentially disastrous default next month.

The deal is expected to bring Greece's debt down to 120.5 percent of gross domestic product by 2020 ? that's around the maximum that the International Monetary Fund and the eurozone consider sustainable.

The euro surged as the news of a deal broke early Tuesday. The accord should take some pressure off the 17-country currency union that has been battling a serious debt crisis for two years.

Without the deal, Greece was facing a potentially calamitous default next month and possibly being forced from the eurozone. The talks stretched into the early hours of Tuesday as ministers wrangled over how to cut Greece's debt to a level that it could eventually pay back while not raising their own commitments.

In the end, the country's private creditors were asked to take substantially more losses on their holdings than previously anticipated, cutting Greece's debt by an estimated euro107 billion.

"It's no exaggeration to say that today is a historic day for the Greek economy," said Greek Premier Lucas Papademos, who rushed to the meeting to lend weight to his country's pleas for help.

Jean-Claude Juncker, the prime minister of Luxembourg who also chairs the meetings of eurozone finance ministers, said Greece's private investors ? mostly banks and investment funds ? have been asked to take a face value loss of 53.5 percent on their bonds.

On top of that, Greece's public creditors ? central banks and the eurozone countries ? also agreed to give Greece a break on its debt.

The eurozone countries will cut the interest that Greece has to pay for its first package of bailout loans to 1.5 percentage points over market rates from between 2 percentage points to 3 percentage points currently, cutting both its debt load and limiting the need for new rescue loans.

At the same time, the European Central Bank and the national central banks in the 17 countries that use the euro will also forego profits on their Greek debt holdings, again reducing the costs for Greece.

EU economic affairs commissioner Olli Rehn says Greece's new compliance with the terms of a new bailout will be ensured by a separate account containing enough money service its debt for three months.

That close monitoring was demanded by some members of the eurozone who are frustrated that Greece has not always enacted painful reforms and budget cuts on time.

2 Russian astronauts step outside space station

(AP) ? Two Russian astronauts aboard the International Space Station are taking a spacewalk.

Oleg Kononenko and Anton Shkaplerov floated out Thursday after being held up at the hatch by a balky ring. They will relocate a construction crane on the Russian side of the space station. They also will install shielding on one of the station's oldest compartments to protect against small bits of space junk.

Space debris is a major threat to the space station. NASA's compartments were launched with armor already in place, while Russia's were not. Station construction wrapped up last year, with the close of the NASA shuttle program.

The station's four other residents ? American, Russian and Dutch ? monitored the spacewalk from inside.

Kindness Ranch: Cute Critters and Quiet Retreat ? What's 4 Dinner ...

Was glad to help promote a great animal sanctuary on my work blog. ?Thought I?d go ahead and share it here, too.

Cross-posted at Aqua Care Solar

We know many of our clients personally and often attend their events and contribute to their charities. ??So it just seems a natural extension to promote them on our blog. ?We are happy to use this platform to help you reach out. ? I was thrilled to learn about?Kindness Ranch?this morning from one of our Solar clients. ?Here?s some information on this great organization. ?If you?re looking for a sweet companion,?check out their animals up for adoption.

Kindness Ranch is the only sanctuary?in the US that takes in all kinds of research animals. While new, it is the result of a decade of work, saving, and planning.

Laboratory animals have long held a special place in the heart of Dr. David Groobman, Founder of Kindness Ranch. Successful in business, Dr. Groobman first saved enough to provide for his family into the future. Once this was accomplished, he dedicated all the profits of his business for ten years to the ranch. He searched four years to locate the perfect 1,000 acre parcel near historic Hartville in Wyoming.

Groobman?s passion attracted caring board members to the cause. Together, they began planning for a sanctuary with the expectation that the residents will always receive the best in animal care and that dogs and cats would be rehabilitated in a home-like environment. Ground was broke in 2006. After building four guests yurts, a dog yurt, a cat yurt, and a managers? yurt, construction was finished in the summer of 2007.

The benefits to the animals are obvious: they are well-cared for in every aspect of their lives.

Besides rescuing everything from dogs to pigs, you can also take advantage of the serenity of their Wyoming location and take a time out there:

The Hartville area of Southeastern Wyoming?is steeped in history. Here you can find peace and serenity, wildlife and outdoor activities, and, of course, the Kindness Ranch. As a Kindness Ranch member, you can stay in one of our beautiful yurts. Use it as a base while you visit local sites or stay here and help us care for the animals.

Head over to their page and learn more about the good works they do. ?And if you would like us to promote your event or charity, hit the comments or send us an email: ?office@aquacaresolar.com

Restaurant Review: Electric East - Keep Your Eyes Open

Anyone who enjoys getting fed seems to be raving about Electric East at the minute. Previously operating as Barn Asia, the Thai, Vietnamese and Cambodian fusion restaurant was a jewel in Newcastle?s culinary crown, winning the North East?s only addition in the Times Top 100 Best Restaurant list and a Remy Martin Award for Excellence. Sadly, I?d never quite gotten round to eating at Barn Asia before it closed its doors for the last time in October, another casualty of the recession. But no sooner had it gone the distance, it was reopened as Electric East. Same staff, same management, and a bloody good excuse to have an evening out.

The thing is, I?m a bit sceptical about the whole ?pan-Asian? thing that so many restaurants are peddling now. Asia is a whole continent, so the thought of trying to achieve such diverse flavours and ideas without ending up doing them all a bit half-arsedly seems a challenge. In fairness though, this probably says more about my own prowess in the kitchen rather than meaning it can?t be done. If I attempt ?pan-anything?, it?s less likely that I?ll channel cultured domestic goddess and more likely that I?ll end up a swearing and stressed out mess. Not to worry though, I hear that they?re experts here.

First off, the place is decked out beautifully. A swanky lounge for pre-dinner drinks, Vietnamese furnishings and artwork, and pretty lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Laid back but lovely.

The menu suggests that you order tapas style, with a few small plates and the odd main course. Smaller plates in the form of tempura king prawns with vindaloo mayo & chilli jam (?6) and scallops with pork & peanut caramel (?7.50) sound particularly tempting. In the end though, we decide on sharing a couple of main courses and ?pre dinner snaggles? of crispy breads and dips (?1.50 per person). Watch out for the salsa one. My dining partner had what can only be described as a look of absolute horror on his face after shovelling a particularly chilli-seed loaded spoonful into his gob. It?s HOT.

Next to arrive was braised Chinese one pot pork cheek with sesame pak choi and steamed rice (?13). Pork cheek seems to be having a bit of a trendy moment right now. I?m not going to go all Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and rave about nose-to-tail eating and the like, but I?m generally of a non-squeamish disposition and I?ll give most things a good go. Great choice, as I loved it. Massive, meaty chunks so tender that it fell apart on the fork , and full of rich flavour. Served with a sweet Chinese sauce, rice, pak choi and bean sprouts to balance all of the meatiness, it was absolutely perfect.

The shaking beef (?18) was in the form of strips of beef fillet sizzling with chillies, pineapple, lime juice and sugar, served with a salad of rocket, tomato and onion. I probably liked this even more than the pork cheeks. Bright and colourful, it tasted just as good as it looked. It was hot, sweet and sour and had all the characteristics of typically Asian dishes that leave you feeling lovely and healthy, rather than in need of going home and having a lie down.

The damage amounted to ?55 including a bottle of wine, a few extra glasses and service. We could have probably spent a lot more had we gone for desserts and the whole tapas thing. Not the cheapest, but considering the quality, quite reasonable. They also do great value set menus during the week.

Believe the hype. Electric East is deserving of its accolades, and there?s nowhere in Newcastle doing this sort of thing to such a high standard. I?ll definitely be back, and you can?t find a much better recommendation than that.

PFT: Giants' Bradshaw takes shot at Romo

DIRECTV's Sixth Annual Celebrity Beach Bowl - GameGetty Images

Most think that no one was interested in receiver Terrell Owens last season because of his age (he?s now 38) or the fact that he tore up his knee, apparently while filming a reality show.

Owens thinks that teams have avoided him because the media has painted him as someone who should be avoided.

?I think a lot of why I probably didn?t play this year, everybody keeps talking about the ?character? issues,? Owens recently told KESN-FM in Dallas, via the Dallas Morning News.? ?The last two or three years relatively I was quiet, knowing that everybody was saying that I had a character issue, I?m disruptive, there?s a lot of hype that comes with me, they?re saying I?m a distraction here and there.

?That?s all hearsay.? If you ask a bunch of my teammates, a lot of it is basically blown out of proportion, the media making me into a fall guy.? Overall, will I ever admit that I was a bad teammate?? Never.? I wasn?t a bad teammate.? Was I disruptive?? No, I wasn?t disruptive.? I feel like I have a lot of football left and I?m looking forward to getting back to playing.

?I think the thing . . . I didn?t get picked up was that a lot of general managers bought into the fact that the media thinks that I?m this bad guy, this rebel guy, this disruptive guy that divides and messes up team?s chemistry.? They won?t allow me to turn over a new leaf.? They won?t allow me to be a better person.? Anytime anything is brought up about me, they keep talking about things that happened five, six, seven years ago.?? Why don?t I get a pass?? I?ve kind of fallen into that villain category and I can?t get out of that box.?

The biggest flaw in Owens? logic lies in his assumption that teams rely exclusively on the things the media says about a player.? Experienced personnel executives have an extensive network of friends and other connections throughout the league, and people talk to each other about the guys who can be trusted to be good teammates, and those who can?t.

Last year, I had a theory/hypothesis/whatever that Owens should get his knee to 100 percent, find a contending team, and take a shot at going out with a Super Bowl ring.? Despite his reputation for ripping a locker room apart from the inside out, he surely couldn?t do that much damage in a short period of time, could he?

I presented that theory/hypothesis/whatever to a source with direct knowledge of Owens? behavior in one of his recent one-year-stint cities ? and the source laughed in my face.

Regardless of whether the reputation is deserved, it?s not a media creation.? Owens? NFL career has ended involuntarily in large part because he?s viewed as a guy who is more trouble than he?s worth, especially at age 38 and with a surgically repaired ACL.

Domain Name Registration ? Great Importance for Every Website ...

Published by Albertson | February 9, 2012 | | 108

Domain registration hosting is an excellent and great importance to every website owner. With hundreds and thousands of websites on the World Wide Web, it is important to make a website distinct and unique from others. Domain name registration is a process of giving an identity or clarity to one?s website. It allows the website owners to enjoy complete autonomy over their website. Web users are directed to a website only when they type the address of that particular site. So it?s important to create the right domain name for your business. First we?ll look at how to choose the right domain name for your business from various companies who offer domain name registration in the UK.

Your domain name must be unique. Other than that, you have a lot of leeway in your choice. The names for the domain registration are insured by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, for uniqueness and mapped properly to a unique Internet Protocol address.

Similar domain names are not valid for the domain registration. The registry is considered responsible for maintaining the database of names registered within the top level domains it manages. When you go onto any domain registration website, it would prompt you with a choice of similar possible domain name registration options. It can be anything between 2 and 67 characters long. Only alphanumeric characters and hyphens are allowed. Hyphens are not allowed at the beginning or end. You can use upper or lowercase characters, but it?s best to stick to lower case.

Different Domain Names There are different types of domain names, such as geo domains, regular domains and local domains. Geo domains are selected based on geographic location, such as cities and countries, and are not co-related to the domain extensions, like .cc or .china. They are as such, NewYork.com, Texas.com, and so on. Geo domains are valued most with regular domains such as .com and .net. They most commonly represent the service their location offers such as hotels and tourism destinations.

It is also important that you make sure that the domain name registration service offers on-line chat and technical support. You will find that having technical support available to answer questions and concerns will be invaluable to you once you begin using the domain and setting up an effective website for your new business. The on-line assistance offered by reputable domain registration service will also be able to help you decide whether or not to increase your domain through several servers or use only one as well as what name will be most effective in attracting the audience you are trying to reach. For more information about domain registration or if you want to need an unique domain name registration than log on to www.Ballisticdomains.com

White firefighters win $2.5 million court award

By Elizabeth Chuck, msnbc.com

Twelve white firefighters who sued after not getting promotions they were in line to get have been awarded a total of more than $2.5 million from the city of Buffalo.

The men sued the city in 2007, claiming the fire department illegally allowed promotional lists with their names on them to expire so they could promote African-American firefighters instead.

The firefighters' awards were based on how far their promotions would have taken them - $49,000 to $500,000 - plus?emotional damages, which ranged from $20,000 to $30,000, reported NBC affiliate WGRZ.com.

"The two fellows who are getting the most were selected for promotion to lieutenant in the fall of 2005 by the fire commissioner, and then again around the end of January 2006 by a new fire commissioner. Those two fellows have never made it to lieutenant," an attorney representing the plaintiffs, Andrew Fleming, told msnbc.com on Thursday. "They had been working 10 or 12 years by 2006. So the judge looked at what their prospective promotions would have been, and ruled that it was likely they would have made battalion commander."

Those two were each given $500,000 based on the judge's calculations, he said.

'They really felt betrayed'
The compensation?ruling was awarded?on Tuesday by state Supreme Court Justice John Michalek, who 15 months ago made the initial ruling that Buffalo had illegally failed to promote the firefighters because of racial discrimination.

In order to qualify for a promotion, a firefighter needs to take a promotional eligibility?exam, which tests the skills they would need to serve as a lieutenant, captain, or other higher-ranking position in the department. The Buffalo case alleged that white firefighters had scored high enough?on their exams, but were then?denied promotions because the city wanted to give?minorities, who hadn't scored as well, the chance to fill those positions.

"The word that kept coming up was betrayal," Fleming said. "They really felt betrayed by the city."

This isn't the first allegation of racial discrimination in the Buffalo Fire Department, or in fire departments around the country. According to a 2010 story on BuffaloNews.com, the department was sued in federal court?over the fairness of the?promotion exams before: A group of African-American Buffalo firefighters claimed that because only a handful of minorities had passed the tests, blacks did not have an equal shot at promotions as whites did in the department.

A judge dismissed the suit, though, ruling that there was insufficient evident to prove the city intentionally engaged in discrimination against black firefighters.

The awards this week came in a state court case.

Reverse discrimination was also addressed in a lawsuit?at a New Haven, Conn. Fire Department that made its way to the Supreme Court in June 2009. Similar to the Buffalo case, the court ruled that white firefighters were unfairly denied promotion because of their race, ruling in favor of the 20 white plaintiffs.

13th firefighter got nothing
In this week's ruling,?a 13th firefighter listed in the suit,?Anthony Hynes,?was not awarded any damages?because there wasn't enough evidence to support his claim, according to the court.

"He was up for division chief, which is the highest rank you can get other than fire commissioner," Fleming told msnbc.com. "When he was passed over for it and another year had passed he realized he wasn't going to get it, he made the decision to retire."

The judge likely excluded Hynes because he assumed there wouldn't have been an opening for division chief even if he hadn't retired, Fleming said.

A spokesman for Buffalo told WGRZ.com that?officials are?reviewing the decision, and the?city may appeal the ruling.

Three firefighters in the case have since been injured on the job since the lawsuit was filed, but all of the others are still working for the department, Fleming told msnbc.com.

"In some cases, they're working for people they should be in charge of. Seeing someone else wearing the captain's bars -- that's hard stuff," he said.

'I cried at this one'
The lawsuit describes?emotional distress the men experienced?over the past several years, citing sleeplessness, marital strain, and depression. The damages award was greeted with mixed emotions.

"The fellow who didn't get any money, they all feel as though that was not fair," Fleming told?msnbc.com.?"Many of them had said they were very, very pleased with the result, but for many of them, they just simply say, you know what? This is not ever going to go away for me. One of them, he was on TV last night saying, 'I should be a captain; I'm only a lieutenant.'"

"It's just bad stuff. It's just a sad case. I've never cried at a trial. I cried at this one," he added.

Lawyers for the city said they disagreed with the judge's ruling on how much the firefighters should be paid.

"The city, at all times, acted under its rights under federal law," Attorney Adam Perry told BuffaloNews.com. "The city has maintained its position that the liability determination made by Justice Michalek was erroneous and should be reversed on appeal."
